04. Immigration & Securing Our Borders
It is the role of the federal government to provide for national defense, and Congress must continue the effort to secure America's borders. We must increase the number of border patrol and security agents as well as utilizing modern technology to increase efficiency. We must also develop a workable program to deal with the estimated 12-20 million undocumented immigrants currently residing in our country. Our approach must not reward law-breaking behavior by providing front-of-the-line blanket amnesty. Undocumented immigrants should be subject to a fine and any path resulting in citizenship must require proficiency in the English language and a thorough understanding of American civics. This will preserve our culture and strengthen our society.
