America must become more effective in our battle against terrorism. Unfortunately, the war in Iraq has become a dangerous distraction to our essential mission of ensuring the safety and well-being of America and its citizens. In addition to the financial burden the war has created, it has also taken a tremendous toll on our country through lives lost and Americans disabled. For America to remain committed to combating the threat of terrorism, both domestically and globally, we must redeploy our troops, engage in a clearly defined mission, and move away from serving as a policing force between rival factions engaged in sectarian violence.
