09. Healthcare

Congress must develop and implement a comprehensive health insurance program that cooperates with, not competes against, the private sector. The goal of comprehensive healthcare reform is an assurance of access to quality, affordable health insurance for the estimated 47 million uninsured and underinsured Americans. Creating an environment where all Americans have access to comprehensive health insurance coverage will result in significantly lower costs by drastically reducing the fiscal burden created by our current system that is forced to provide care to indigent and uninsured residents. America's long-term solution for an effective healthcare policy must include a strong emphasis on preventative medicine, a focus on innovation in technology and research, and the delivery of efficient, affordable and compassionate care.
