We must continue our current Social Security program and resist attempts to privatize this essential service. Decreasing Social Security benefits is not a long-term solution. To insure the solvency of Social Security, as our population ages and life expectancies continue to rise, Congress should recognize an inevitable and gradual increase in the average age of retirement.
